The Washington DC, Boston, San Jose, and San Francisco metros consistently lead, with over 50% of adults holding bachelor's degrees or higher, well above the national average of around 35%. Educational attainment correlates strongly with metro-level income, and the cluster of educated workers drives ongoing concentration of knowledge-economy jobs.
